We here at Delta Scan are constantly looking for new ways to improve our industry and find novel solutions for working in challenging environments. At Delta Scan, we are committed to leveraging the latest technological advancements to solve complex engineering challenges. Our rover is a testament to this commitment. Engineered specifically for the demands of confined space/ tunnel inspections, it integrates advanced robotics, AI, and sensor technologies to provide comprehensive and reliable data collection.

Features and Benefits

1. Enhanced Key Accessibility:

Delta Scan has developed a specialised rover designed to operate in the most challenging and hazardous environments, such as confined tunnels and underground structures. Its compact design and agile maneuver ability enable it to access areas that are unsafe or unreachable for human surveyors. Unlike conventional pipe crawlers, which are hindered by bulky tethered systems and difficulty navigating through debris or water, our rover excels in these demanding conditions. Capable of traversing openings as small as 350mm, it recently completed a successful survey of over 1,000 meters within a single pipe, underscoring its exceptional performance and reliability.

2. Advanced Sensor Suite:

Equipped with a state-of-the-art sensor suite, high-definition cameras, and a head tracking gimbal, our rover captures precise measurements and detailed imagery. This data is crucial for creating accurate models and analyses of the surveyed environments.

3. Real-Time Data Processing:

The integration of AI-driven data processing allows for the analysis and visualisation of the survey data. Engineers and asset managers can make informed decisions quickly, improving project efficiency and reducing downtime.

4. Safety and Efficiency:

By deploying our rover in confined spaces, we significantly reduce the risk to human surveyors. This not only enhances safety but also increases the efficiency of data collection, as the rover can operate continuously without fatigue.

Applications Across Industries

  • Our ‘TIROV’ Terrestrial inspection remotely operated vehicle is already making a significant impact across various sectors, including:
  • Infrastructure Management: Conducting detailed inspections of tunnels, channels, and pipelines to assess structural integrity and plan maintenance.
  • Mining Operations: Surveying penstocks and underground mines to optimise operations and ensure safety standards.
  • Disaster Response: Providing critical data in post-disaster scenarios, enabling rapid assessment and recovery efforts in areas unsafe for humans.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to refine and enhance our rover’s capabilities, we are excited about the potential to further transform confined space surveying. Our goal is to push the boundaries of what is possible, delivering solutions that not only meet today’s needs but anticipate tomorrow’s challenges. We will be looking at allowing for interchangeable payloads and constantly improving our new addition to the Delta Scan inspection fleet.
