Insurance & forensic:
loss events and failure investigation.

Independent engineering investigation after a failure, collapse, fire, or loss event, plus survey-grade damage quantification for insurers and loss adjusters. Capture is fast, defensible, and reviewed by a registered professional engineer.

In short

Delta Scan provides independent reality capture and engineering quantification for insurers and forensic investigations. After fire, flood, collapse, or civil unrest, drone and ground capture records the scene in 3D before evidence is disturbed, and a registered Pr Eng quantifies loss and reinstatement in claim-ready, signed reports.

[01] · Sector context

What we see
in the market.

When a structure fails, a tailings dam breaches, a building burns, or civil unrest damages an asset, two questions follow immediately: what happened, and what will it cost to make good. Both answers must stand up to scrutiny from insurers, lawyers, regulators, and sometimes a court. Slow or contested answers cost every party money.

Reality capture changes the forensic timeline. A drone and ground-based survey records a failed structure or damaged site in hours, before evidence is cleared or weather degrades it, freezing the scene as a measurable, time-stamped 3D record every party can interrogate later. The same dataset supports root-cause investigation and loss quantification.

Delta Scan works both as an independent technical investigator and as a capture and quantification partner to insurers, loss adjusters, and other engineering firms. Where Delta Scan is the engineer of record, forensic findings are reviewed and signed by a registered Pr Eng; where we support another firm or an insurer, they retain the engineer-of-record role and we provide the defensible data.

[02] · Our experience

What we do
in insurance & forensic.

  • Forensic engineering investigation of structural failures, collapses, and loss events, with an independent root-cause finding
  • Insurance loss adjusting and claim mapping: survey-grade quantification and mapping of damage to support a claim
  • Rapid site capture after a loss event, freezing a time-stamped 3D record before the scene is cleared or altered
  • Tailings and dam failure assessment, drawing on our tailings monitoring and bathymetric capability
  • Disaster-response documentation of flood, fire, and unrest damage across portfolios of assets

Where we built
for insurance & forensic.

DeltaCloud. deltacloud. Stores the time-stamped capture as a versioned, access-logged evidentiary record every party can revisit.

Omnispect. omnispect. 360-degree video review for documenting confined or hazardous post-event environments safely.

[06] · Standards

Compliance
and standards.

Forensic and loss engagements are documented to support insurance, legal, and regulatory scrutiny:

  • Structural assessments reference SANS 10160 (loading) and SANS 10100 (concrete)
  • Tailings failure work aligns with GISTM, where applicable
  • Capture is time-stamped and access-logged in DeltaCloud as a defensible record

Where Delta Scan is the engineer of record, the forensic findings are reviewed and signed by a registered Pr Eng; where we act as a capture and quantification partner, the appointed engineer or loss adjuster retains that role.
