Structural engineering for insurance

The independent structural report
your claim needs.

Independent structural engineering reports for insurance claims across South Africa. When damage has to be assessed, a cause established, or a claim supported or tested, we deliver a clear report signed by a registered Professional Engineer that insurers, adjusters, and policyholders can rely on.

The situation

Where an engineering report settles the claim

These are the moments when a signed, independent engineering finding is worth far more than an opinion, because a claim, a dispute, or a rebuild turns on it.

01

Storm, flood, and fire damage

An independent view on what the event actually damaged structurally, separating it from pre-existing wear.

02

Subsidence and settlement claims

Assessment of whether movement is event-related and insurable, or long-term ground behaviour.

03

Cause and extent disputes

A defensible engineering opinion where insurer and claimant disagree on cause or scope.

04

Pre-existing versus event damage

The distinction that decides many claims, established from measurable evidence rather than a site opinion.

05

Repair scope and cost validation

An engineering view on what genuinely needs repair, to test or support a quoted scope.

06

Blasting, construction, and third-party damage

Damage attributed to nearby activity, assessed independently for liability and recovery.

The deliverable

What the report gives the claim

Not a folder of photographs. A measured, reasoned, signed engineering document that does its job when it matters.

WhatWhy it matters
Pr Eng signed opinionA structural report signed by a registered Professional Engineer (ECSA), suitable for the claim file, the adjuster, and, if needed, a dispute.
Cause established from evidenceWe separate event damage from pre-existing condition using measurable reality-capture and survey, not a visual estimate.
Clear, claim-ready findingsWritten for the people who decide the claim: cause, extent, what is insurable in engineering terms, and what a sound repair involves.
Fast, deadline-aware turnaroundClaims run on deadlines. We respond within one business day and agree a delivery date that fits the claim timeline up front.
Independent and defensibleThe finding is independent of who instructs it, which is exactly what makes it useful when a claim is tested.
Support if the claim is disputedFurther engineering input as a claim progresses to dispute, within our appointed scope.
Who we work with

Instructed by the people
who decide the outcome.

We keep the investigation independent, whichever side instructs it, because that is what makes the finding stand.

Insurers and underwriters Loss adjusters and assessors Policyholders and property owners Attorneys and legal teams Managing agents and body corporates Commercial and industrial operators
Why Delta Scan

Signed by an engineer.
Backed by evidence.

We are an engineering reality-capture firm. That combination is exactly what a forensic or insurance investigation needs: measurable evidence, interpreted and signed by a registered engineer.

Reports are reviewed and signed by a registered Professional Engineer, Darryl Epstein (Pr Eng, ECSA 202001436). The evidence behind them is captured with the same reality-capture discipline we use across mining, energy, and infrastructure: laser scanning, drone and thermal survey, and 3D reconstruction, so the finding rests on measurement, not memory. We operate nationally, carry professional indemnity cover, and keep every investigation independent of who instructs it.

Questions

Straight answers.

Do you work for insurers or claimants?

Both. We are instructed by insurers, loss adjusters, attorneys, and policyholders. The report is independent, which is what gives it weight on either side.

Is it signed by a registered engineer?

Yes, every report is signed by a registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng, ECSA). We carry professional indemnity cover.

Can you meet a claim deadline?

We respond within one business day and agree a delivery date to fit your claim timeline before we start.

How much does a report cost?

It depends on the property, the damage, and the depth required. Send the details and we will scope it and quote.
